The first two satellites started

The first two Galileo in-orbit validation (IOV) satellites started the journey to their preliminary orbits at an altitude of 23222 km on October 21 at 10:30 UT. All systems seem to function as intended and these first IOV satellites will be tested for 90 days before commissioning into the IOV phase. The second set of two Galileo IOV satellites is currently scheduled for launch in summer 2012.
